Oh......my..........God.
Oden out for the season after having microfracture surgery to repair torn cartilage in his knee.
Look, I have discussed microfracture surgery here before. http://hoopramblings.blogspot.com/2006/11/microfracture-surgery.html But riddle me this -- back in the day, you used to have the cartilage removed and you were back playing in a month or two. Now you are out a year??? Even if the reports start coming back more favorably on how much explosion a player loses due to microfracture surgery (and there are some positive reports to go with a number of negative reports) is it really worth the 11 month extra recovery time for a player?
Congrats Blazers fans, your first round pick in 2007 will net you exactly 0 points, 0 rebounds and 0 blocks this year.
