Vikings Win Despite Horrid Coaching

Reggie Bush -- punt return for a TD. Next time -- punt to him again and he would have scored but for a slip. Time after that -- punt to him AGAIN and he scores a TD AGAIN.

Wow. There was a play in the first half where I stopped the DVR and asked my son, "How many guys within 5 yards of the line of scrimmage for the Saints' D?" Nine. "What CAN'T you do here?" Run the ball.

I then restart the DVR -- run off tackle, minus 2.

Wow.

I'm trying to think of some appropriate cliche to offer up by way of excusing Childress' play-calling, but nothing comes to mind.

Bears in first; Vikings tied for second with the Packers. Could be fun in our crappy division! Also amazed that the Vikes were able to win, but remember- talent and luck over coaching any time- unless you are the Cubs in the post-season.

K, you've missed our point. While great talent will typically be more valuable that great coaching, the issue which Vikings fans face is how much truly poor coaching can drag down a talented team.

No- I think we are on the same page. The Vikings won yesterday despite bad coaching. Your concern, I believe, is how often can you win despite bad coaching? Yes, it would be great to have talent, great coaching and luck-but, how often do you ahve all that. What may hurt you more is that I heard on ESPN this morning that the Vikings win yesterday may have saved Brad Childress' job. Still alot of football left and Vikings are tied for second.

This had already dawned on me last night. As the Saints scored 17 unanswered points, I was really thinking, "At least this takes us one step closer to the end of the Childress era. Lose this game and the Lions game, and he'll be fired immediately."

Based on what I saw agaisnt the Bears this past Sunday, the Lions are AWFUL!
